Recipient Org: Description The Greeno Centre is owned, maintained and staffed by Spelthorne Borough Council. Greeno Centre supplies transport, meals on wheels and a sandwich service for clients who do not have carers to assist with their night time meal. The centre also has a gym, stroke rehabilitation programme, one to one exercise opportunities, a hairdresser a beautician and a chiropodist. The centre's aim is to be as diverse as possible and to meet everyone's needs. Greeno Centre additionally provides home care for cleaning, shopping and gardening. Advice clinics (Alzheimer's society, Autism clinic and Age UK for benefit support for the elderly), are accommodated in the centre. The Greeno Centre operates a Men in Sheds project based in two garages converted into working sheds by two volunteers. Many members work with volunteers who are unable to work in their own sheds for safety reasons. On a daily basis clients attending the centre can has a hot lunch. Spelthorne Borough Council employs 4 full time and 1 part time staff at the centre. _x000D_ The groups and activities which are based in the centre are run by a small community group called the Greeno Centre Charity. They are not a registered charity as they have fundraising income under £5,000 pa, but are registered with HMRC. The overall aim of Greeno Centre Charity is to exclude isolation and promote independent living, well-being and self-esteem, and to provide a safe environment for elderly, retired, and disabled clients, and clients with dementia and Alzheimer's. Three Alzheimer's groups operate from the centre, including a younger 'Out and About Alzheimer's Group' and a group especially for clients with physical and mental health problems who need extra care. The charity has two carers who look after this other group who have extra care needs. Twice a week Greeno Centre Clients are offered chair-based exercise as well as live music. All activities and entertainment are paid for by the Greeno Centre Charity which is entirely voluntary and has a Management Committee of 8 people, supported by 15 other volunteers.
