Recipient Org: Description | The first Rotary club was founded in 1905 when four friends met in Chicago to discuss how they could work together to help the wider community. Rotary has since grown internationally to more than 1.2 million members across 200 countries. In 1914 the organisation moved across the Atlantic and the British Association of Rotary Clubs was established. The association was renamed Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland in 1924._x000D_ The Rotary Club of Cateram meets every Thursday at the Surrey National Golf Club, Rook Lane, Chaldon. On the fifth Thursday of the month the meeting is an evening event with partners. The group invite two speakers a month on a range of subjects, from charities, local organisations and national companies, plus two business session lunches per month._x000D_ _x000D_ The purpose of the group is to raise and administer funds from public, private or other sources to carry out charitable projects the benefit of the community. There are no staff and a management committee of 40 members. |
