Recipient Org: Description Home-Start Runnymede and Woking is a registered charity affiliated to Home-Start UK and working to Quality Standards set by the national body. Home-Start Runnymede helps hard to reach disadvantaged families through a support network of trained volunteers who meet the family weekly in their own homes and offer friendship, listening, emotional support and advice. Many of the referred families have children subject to either child protection or children in need plans and in some families supported there may be concerns over domestic violence, poor housing, temporary accommodation, financial problems, low qualifications or long-term unemployment, disability, learning difficulties, ill health or depression. Volunteers encourage families to participate in community activities to widen their social networks, raise self-esteem and build their confidence. Home-Start also assist families with practical life and parenting skills such as budgeting and healthy cooking and empower parents find ways to resolve problems for themselves._x000D_ In January 2015 the trustees resolved to merge Home-Start Runnymede with Home-Start Woking to safeguard the viability of the two schemes. The assets were transferred to the new organisation on 31st March 2015._x000D_ Home-Start Runnymede and Woking employs 4 part time staff and is governed by a Board of 10 Trustees. 45 volunteers support participating families.
