Recipient Org: Description The Parochial Church Council of The Ecclesiastical Parish Of St John Cove (PCC Cove) was registered with the charity commission in 2009. The Anglican Parish consists of three churches in Cove, Farnborough, including St Christopher's, St John's and Southwood. St John's Church has a membership which ranges from 0 to over 85 years, and aims to provide worship and activities that are relevant to all. St John's Church aims to be at the centre of the community – "reaching out in love and service". In October 2015, St John's hosted a Multi-Agency event to mark Mental Health Day. This saw the Launch of Open Door – a "drop-in" on Wednesday evenings (6-8pm) for those isolated by mental health difficulties or struggling to cope with life for whatever reason. Open Door offers a listening ear, friendship, refreshments, activities and signposting to other services. The Open Door service includes "outreach" where sometimes people are supported with help and advice outside of the group times, and also networks with other local mental health organisations / groups. Two mental health awareness events have been hosted by the group since it started. The group is run by 5 volunteers including the Leader and Co-leader. Both are responsible to the Vicar of St John's.
