Recipient Org: Description Bloomin' Arts (BA) was established in 1997 and aims to provide accessible opportunities for participation and education in performing arts for adults with learning disabilities, who live in Surrey and the surrounding areas. BA is a registered charity and in 2012 also became a company limited by guarantee. BA runs a number of different activities and courses, the majority of which take place at the charity's premises in Lingfield. The charity aims to offer the opportunity to progress from participant to practitioner in the Arts. The Arts Apprenticeships offer participants the opportunity to develop skills and strengths with the objective of training for work. The charity also runs a Monday drama club, Wednesday music club, musical theatre club and dance club. The group has produced performances in several local theatres and at Arts Festivals. Recently BA also started a touring theatre company made up of people who have accessed courses in the past, who go out into schools across Surrey. Clients are involved in the whole creative process. BA is supported by a Board of 5 Trustees who are active in supporting the one full-time member of staff - the charity's General Manager/Arts Practitioner. There are a further 3 part-time Freelance Associates who facilitate art, drama and music sessions, invoicing the group on a sessional basis. The charity is supported by 12 volunteers.
