Recipient Org: Description yourSanctuary (formerly Surrey Women's Aid) was established in June 1977 and is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee based in Woking, supporting people who have suffered from, or who are exposed to domestic abuse. The charity's four key aims are: Offer protection for survivors and their families; Work towards the prevention of domestic abuse; Undo the harm caused by domestic abuse; and Provide effective services that are well resourced and focused on best working practices. yourSanctuary provides protection by offering safe accommodation in two refuges for up to 13 women and their children at any one time with the ultimate goal of facilitating a positive re-settlement in the Community. The charity runs the only 24/7 domestic helpline in Surrey which provides vital support to those experiencing domestic abuse as well as concerned family and friends. yourSanctuary also provides the only Community Outreach service for people experiencing domestic abuse in North West Surrey, with the outreach team providing a range of services including one to one meetings, group support, support through court proceedings, referral or sign-posting to other agencies, training to other agencies, children's outreach, advocacy, access to legal clinics, risk assessment, and safety planning. yourSanctuary employs 4 full-time and 10 part-time staff, and is governed by a board of 8 Trustees and supported by 10 volunteers.
