The organisation developed out of programmes which were previously offered by The Arc in Caterham, a charity working with young people and with people with disabilities. The Arc is funded by the Caterham Barracks Community Trust. In early 2015 the Trust was unable to continue funding arts activities. The founder of Prospero was previously Artistic Director at the Arc. Prospero aims to take on board participant’s ideas, aims and ambitions, and also seeks to raise the profile of inclusive arts. As well as work in schools, Prospero runs Friday Club, a mixed arts day for adults with disabilities, and a Monday inclusive group. Since 2016 Prospero has been delivering mindfulness sessions and Mind Fitness. The CIC consists of 1 full time worker, 5 part-time workers and a Management Committee of 6 people. It is supported by 6 volunteers. All employment is on a sessional basis.
