Recipient Org: Description Citizens Advice Elmbridge West (CAEW) is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. It was originally formed in 1947. The North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service project has been in operation since 2003, and the North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS) is an on-going project of CAEW. The aims of CAEW are to provide advice to people need, and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. The service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice on people’s rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. The NSDAS project provides specialist services to those who experience domestic abuse across three boroughs in Surrey (Elmbridge, Spelthorne, and Epsom & Ewell). NSDAS works in collaboration with 3 other charitable specialist domestic abuse service providers’ in Surrey. NSDAS employs 7 members of staff trained in specialist domestic abuse advice. This includes a Services Manager, 4 Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (1 embedded with Surrey Police), a Volunteer Coordinator, and 1 Administrator. NSDAS is located at Elmbridge (West) Citizens Advice offices, and helps people who have been abused, to reduce the risk of further harm, and work towards independence. Over time the service demand has increased significantly. CAEW employs 5 full time and 10 part time staff. It is governed by 9 Trustees and is supported by around 40 volunteers, including the NSDAS volunteers.
