Recipient Org: Description Established in 1987 and becoming a registered charity in February 2003, the Vine Day Centre, located in Aldershot, provides daily support and help to homeless and vulnerable adults. The charity offers a range of frontline services as part of its Journey Programme, addressing both immediate needs and longer term needs. The day centre is open Monday to Friday, providing service users with companionship, and practical assistance including advice on housing and welfare benefits; securing accommodation; and counselling. The Vine also provides drug and alcohol support, healthcare services, a job club and IT support. The centre is equipped to provide a hot mid-day meal, as well as shower and laundry facilities. Life skills, volunteering and training opportunities and other preparation services help clients to become ready to live independently. The charity has also set up and run an Emergency Winter Night Shelter for the last two years (November to March) and a Street Dispersion Project to reduce street drinking during the last two summers (May-September). The Vine provides services in areas where some wards fall within the top 20% of deprivation. Services have been strategically developed to meet the needs of the changing community. Services are provided 9.30 - 1.30 for drop in and support including 1:1 assessments and specialist mental health appointments. From 1.30 - 3.30 The Vine provides specialist group support including GASP (Gambling, Alcohol and Substance Support Project) with group and 1:1 sessions helping individuals identify the impact of addictions. Art Therapy is delivered twice a week, alongside IT training and stage 2 Food Health and Hygiene, literacy and numeracy, debt management and other training opportunities. ‘Silvers’ is the user-led social inclusion project for those aged 55 and over. The charity employs 2 full-time and 11 part-time members of staff, is governed by a board of 7 Trustees, with additional support provided by some 10 volunteers.
