Recipient Org: Description | We are operating as an early years hub providing care for vulnerable children and children of key workers. We are a charity run nursery who has completely changed the way in which we work to support families in Barrow through the Covid crisis. We have opened our door to vulnerable children not just from our own nursery but across Barrow as most nurseries have shut. These families we have been supporting are on low incomes and benefits and some have lost jobs due to the pandemic we have provided places for their children from the ages of 2- 5 years including Looked after Children. We have supplied these families and the elderly in our immediate community with food parcels and the children with resources they can take home and would like to continue to do so. We have been providing a free 2 course hot meal for these children each day and supporting parents with their mental health and well - being. In the absence of being able to visit the elderly at our local care home which we normally do we have been painting pebbles and drawing pictures and delivering to them to help combat their lonliness. |
