Recipient Org: Description | Combe Martin Senior Citizens Groupis a community project/club offering a rural resource to individuals, many of whom are vulnerable and socially isolated. The aim of the Club is to offer a safe wlecoming place where members can engage and support each other, this helps to improve self-esteem, confidence and over a period of time helps to improve social skills which assists in reducing isolation and loneliness. These combined benefits of skills, confidence and outlook acquired at the Centre are recognised by many people within the community and the Clubs social value is particularly important when living alone in a rural and sometimes very isolated area; health and well-being is measured by happy participants and for many, the Club is a lifeline. Acitivites include: -Tea and Chat sessions -Fun activites to stimulate, including Bingo, Quizes and Hoy! -Trips Out -Speakers on various subjects -Celebration events The work, and aim, of Combe Martin Senior Citizens addresses the problems of isolation and fragmentation and really does change peoples’ lives. |
