Recipient Org: Description Firstsite’s mission is to inspire everyone to participate in society through culture that contributes to wellbeing, skills and learning and cohesion. We engage with around 150,000 people annually who take part in our work as viewers of our exhibition and cinema programmes and as active participants in our creative learning and community programmes. Firstsite’s work addresses the need for access to cultural and creative activity and a cross-section of society benefits from our work from parents and toddlers through to older people. We work closely to deliver our work with our partners in the community, aiming to reach beneficiaries who are representative of our communities as a whole, particularly those who are most marginalised and face multiple disadvantages. Our work has an impact on social wellbeing and cohesion, physical and mental health, education and the local economy. Our work with children and young people of all ages is fundamental to our existence as an organisation and concentrates on building the five employability skills of; team work, communication, problem-solving, self-belief and self-management as well as developing self-esteem, confidence and pride and creative talent, at every age as well as giving children and young people the platform to get their voice heard.
