Recipient Org: Description 4 Youth has been open for 19 yrs providing a safe place off the streets for children aged 7-10yrs & young people aged 11-17 offering It is a place where every individual can reach their full potential .by offering them the opportunity to develop new skills through our varied workshops. We have an active Youth Forum who meet regularly to plan activities and fund raising events. The most recent workshop we have organised was Circus Training , learning different skills e.g. Plate spinning , Tight rope, uni- cycle and many more. At the last session they put together a show designing a programme showing the skills they have learnt. We encourage our members to participate. in local events e.g. Brightlingsea Carnival, Christmas Late night Shopping, where we provide refreshments our members cook Sausage rolls and mince pies . Also the Christmas Tree Festival. we decorate our tree and display it in the local church. and The Horticultural Show . Through our affiliation with Essex Boys & Girls Clubs we are able to outdoor activities such as Archery, Dodge ball, Pool competitions, Days at' Stubbers ' their Activity centre. ,Clay Pigeon Shooting and many more. . These team activities help to build self confidence, leadership skills they also learn to respect others strengths and weaknesses. supporting each other an d building new friendships. By introducing them to new interests it broadens their horizons and life skills to take forward to adult life. For the past 5 yrs we have been able to offer through The Pioneer Trust' a trip on their recently restored 'Oyster Smack ' This year we have been offered for the second year the opportunity to help sail in the annual 'Colne Smack & Barge Race ' which our members were very excited about. Another activity we will again be taking our members on is a 6 session Bush Craft course on Mersea Island run by 'Greenpath Ventures'. This activity is important to the social and emotional development . We have had two sessions and which was enjoyed by all our members. We will be organising a further 4 sessions this year the last session which will entail a weekend camping experience.. The bush craft activities offer young people who have diagnosed behavioural disorders the opportunity with support and encouragement to meet new challenges working together with others will build their confidence self, forming new friendships. Brightlingsea's Carnival , Horticultural Show ,Late night Christmas shopping, where we provide refreshments, Christmas Tree Festival our members decorate their tree at our local church, This we feel helps them to feel part of their local community
