Recipient Org: Description | The Charity, operational since May 2019, aims to provide recovery from alcohol and substance abuse, to the benefit of the individual, family and friends and the wider community as well as reducing levels of alcohol dependency within Mid Essex and educating people about the risks involved in the misuse of addictive substances. Our main objectives, the promotion and prevention of the abuse of alcohol and other substances and the rehabilitation of those abusers by the provision of counselling, therapy and advice and information, are reviewed every year. Strategies used to meet these objectives include: - Offering a residential therapeutic programme and practical support to the homeless and those facing homelessness including Aftercare and move on accommodation Offering the programme to non-residents and who have their own accommodation, to attend daily. Working in cooperation with other agencies, charities, and public services to secure the widest range of services available that best match the needs of our service users. Clients present in the early, difficult days of recovery from prolonged addiction. By its nature, our service is staff and volunteer intensive and can extend over many months tailored to suit individual clients. We promote a firm grounding in their ability to stay and live sober, knowledge of self and a reshaping of thought patterns, practical goals for healthy living and the building of a strong support network. However, the impact of our work goes beyond those we help directly and includes reducing the distress suffered by their families and friends. For the wider community, the drain on public resources that typically go hand in hand with active addiction, anti-social behaviour, ongoing reliance on Benefits, criminal activity, imprisonment or probation, poor health, A&E visits, and hospitalisation, all give way to gradual reintegration and making a positive contribution to society. |
