Recipient Org: Description Parent led independent and active Essex charity, founded in 1996, following extensive research into the needs of families of children/young people (CYP) with any special educational need/disability (SEND), committed to helping improve the lives of vulnerable families of CYP (aged 0 -25), with SEND anywhere in Essex, including those with physical and/or sensory impairments, learning difficulties, mental health issues and emotional/behavioural problems of an enduring nature. Current successful projects include Family Support Advisers providing outreach support; addressing a wide range of issues, achieving positive outcomes improving health, social, emotional and economic well-being, strengthening and building resilience, enhancing stability and improving quality of life for the whole family. Activities include our Family Saturday Activity Club providing fun activities with health benefits for the whole family. Our Siblings Support Group (brothers and sisters aged 8+, who are young carers) providing opportunities for them to have some time away from the family group to enjoy their childhood/meet others with similar experiences. Our portfolio of activities and parent information/learning opportunities include; drop-ins/respite opportunities, family events, regular e-bulletins (circulation of over 3,500 to parents/carers/professionals/schools; mainstream and specialist provision), Website and Face-book presence (with over 2.3k likes and posts with a regular reach of 4K). In the Essex community, across health, education, and social care, we add value to effective multi-agency partnerships and practices, sharing best practice, signposting and cross referrals from a wide range of professionals/agencies. Our partners value our vital role in providing holistic solution focussed support addressing practical and emotional needs to enhance the quality of life for the whole family. We have a clear impactful presence within the overall infrastructure implementing SEND reform in Essex at both strategic and practitioner level, helping grow the understanding of the challenges families’ face, creating an environment of empathy and realism in supporting families. We continue to raise our profile and look to identify new ways to increase our presence within the community. We have recently joined the Community Tree Network, a network of partner organisations who provide support for people that are experiencing mental ill-health and/or related problems and endorsed by Essex County Council.
