Recipient Org: Description A means to bring residents of the rural communities of Little and Great Braxted together for essentially an informal coffee and cake morning whereby important information will be made available. The intention is to provide the opportunity for residents of all ages to come together and strengthen the community. Literature relating to home safety, staying safe, avoiding scams, coping with illnesses such as dementia and general crime prevention advice will be available. I have held two self funded coffee mornings that have proved very popular and have demonstrated there is a desire within the community for such an event to be held on a regular basis. We are an isolated community and a monthly event such as this would give the vulnerable an opportunity to seek help and support. I have recently retired from the Metropolitan Police after 30 years service and recognise that domestic abuse is as prevalent in all communities but less reported in rural ones. I have also received training in relation to the safeguarding of children.
