Recipient Org: Description | Outhouse East and its predecessor Colchester Gay Switch Board has been operating in Colchester for 40 years and has established a reputation for support for the LGBTQ+ community. We have our own building which gives us stability and enables us to offer consistency of services to our community. Services are tailored to the specific need of the client group through consultation and identifying needs. Having our own centre gives us greater scope to work in partnership with other organisations and encourage many communities to access services and support here. Outhouse East promotes awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, visibility and inclusion with outreach programmes, while working in partnership with other organisations and individuals to build a strong, cohesive and influential LGBTQ+ voluntary and community sector. Outhouse East provides services specifically tailored to the LGBTQ+ community while creating safe spaces for members of this marginalised community, where their concerns are addressed and they are treated with dignity and respect We are well placed in the centre of Colchester and have an outreach location in Basildon Youth Centre, and we are aware of what our community needs are. We offer a plethora of services developed through the changing needs of our community |
