Recipient Org: Description The Recreation Ground Trust was registered with the Charity Commission in 2002 as a Charitable Trust, following legal advice that established that in 1922, when the Debden Parish Council bought the land from a private benefactor a covenant was embedded in the conveyance that effectively created a charitable trust. The covenant specified that the land should be always used accordingly to the Open Spaces Act of 1906 to provide a garden or an open space for the public. The Parish Councillors upon their election or co-option become de facto trustees.
