Recipient Org: Description Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development empowering them to make a positive contribution to Society. We are part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 - 25 year olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in the communities. Scouts helps children and young adults to reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, planning, communication, self motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world. In Thurrock we have approximately 1,370 members aged 6 to 18 year olds and just over 470 adult volunteers. All adult members are volunteers including the running of assets such as the Condovers Scout Camping and Activity Centre and the District Scout Headquarters. In order to ensure Condovers campsite is maintained to a high standard and is available evening and weekends, a volunteer team, known as the 'Brown team', has been established to maintain the site and to complete small projects. This team has now grown to approximately 12 members of retired skilled people and they meet weekly to complete tasks from cutting the grass to installing electrics in a building.
