Recipient Org: Description | Volunteer Uttlesford was established in 1995 to support the community of Uttlesford which is the largest geographical district in Essex and the most rural. The overall aim of the organisation is to 'make volunteering a part of everyday life in Uttlesford' we aim to achieve this by:- promoting and developing volunteering across Uttlesford acting as a broker by matching volunteers with appropriate opportunities, identifying, creating and developing volunteering opportunities, marketing the benefits of volunteering publicising the health, well-being and social benefits of volunteering broadening the impact of volunteering through innovation providing skills to improve the quality of volunteers enhancing the quality of life, health and well-being of individuals through volunteering Our current projects include: Working with young people aged from 9 years, encouraging them to be helpful and supportive to others who may have some additional requirements, giving them an early insight into volunteering and it's benefits to the community. Petal Wave Art Trail: an inter-generational art project, which is helping to raise awareness of dementia throughout Uttlesford. It is a voluntary project and as such encourages people of all ages to volunteer, in a fun and positive way. Employee Volunteering - working with local employers, to encourage volunteer employee schemes, in the past year we have had many successful employee volunteering days working with Organisations who have a short project, needing attention. Youth 16-19 promoting the idea of volunteering as a positive activity. Befriending - in partnership with St. Claire Hospice, running workshops for potential befrienders and supporters. Dementia Cafe - Managing a dementia cafe in Saffron Walden, for those living with and those caring for people with dementia, this is run almost exclusively by volunteers. All of these projects take place in sourcing, interviewing and placing general volunteers with Organisations and Timebank volunteers (being neighbourly) in your local community. |
