Recipient Org: Description Crossways is an established community church in Halstead with a heart for serving local people by meeting them where they are at. Our vision is to work as a community for our community, spreading a message of hope that reveals and active and living God. Our Sunday services (face to face, or online during lockdown) provide friendship and fellowship, especially for older people, who are may otherwise be experiencing loneliness and isolation. When possible, given national guidelines, we run a fortnightly lunch club for senior citizens, a Ladies’ craft club, weekly services for residents of Priory Hall Retirement Village and offer weekly teaching seminars online. Our project to reach and serve the younger members of our local community is called Revolution Youth. Aimed at 13-17-year olds, we aim to provide increased hope, aspirations and opportunities for young people. We provide a free, safe and secure environment to discuss bigger life issues, explore spirituality and encourage the teenagers to see beyond their current situations through a weekly youth club, online live streams, a monthly podcast and our Instagram account. We firmly believe that being a reliable and consistent presence in these teenagers' lives encourages community involvement, social cohesion and successful transitions to adulthood. The group is offered to all regardless of race, religion, gender or sexuality. We believe in building self-esteem and confidence through learning new skills (e.g. video editing, music and sound recording, expression in art) and taking part in team activities (e.g. sports). The current set-up is: 1. All youth invited from Halstead and the surrounding villages. 2. It’s a safe place to make friends and learn new skills. 3. There’s always someone to talk to about practical, emotional or educational needs. 4. Provide a place to feel a sense of acceptance and belonging.
