Recipient Org: Description | The Day Centre is intended for people over 60 to help alleviate isolation and loneliness for people who are not able to build links with their community by reason's of poor health, disabilities, impairment and other needs, including regaining confidence after a stay in hospital or after a fall. The Centre has a strong commitment to enable older people to address the factors that protect and create general health and well being. Our main objectives are to provide a range of preventative activities that enable people to live as independent as possible in their own home and remain healthy and have non-judgemental support for that choice. Our services include. Transport to and from peoples homes, as well as transport to other health care appointments on the days they attend The Centre. A daily shopping service. A bathing service, especially beneficial to the more frail members and also their family carers. A daily seated exercise class which benefits physical and mental well being. A 2 course freshly cooked lunch and beverages throughout the day. Other activities include, board & card games, quizzes, Bingo, debates, showing of old movies, speakers, entertainers, and trips out to various places of interest. The Centre also has a visiting chiropodist helping to ensure good foot care without the stress of attending a clinic. Our strategy is to work from a comprehensive range of information between, ourselves, the members and other health organisations. |
