Primary beneficiary Older People
Recipient Org: Charity Number 1076509
Recipient Org: Description The Information Centre supplies transport timetables, leaflets etc and the volunteers in the office can also give advice and information on a number of different subjects. Approximately 100 people have come into the office to ask for advice or information. These visits are logged but many people come in to pick up leaflets and these are not logged. The information office is also used as a base for our Good Neighbour Scheme. This Scheme aims to operate as a support network for elderly/disabled residents in Kidlington and surrounding villages. We match volunteers to clients offering free services, e.g. befriending, household tasks, gardening, shopping, dog walking, collection of prescriptions, form filling, etc. Currently we have 47 volunteers who support 88 clients and these numbers continue to increase. Clients are referred from local housing associations, social services, district nurses etc. Occasionally potential clients or their relatives contact the office directly asking for help. We are an important support network which if forced to close through lack of funding, would cause hardship to the local elderly and disabled local community.
