Recipient Org: Description | Our vision is a world in which all children and young people with life-limiting conditions are empowered and able to access the support they want for themselves and their families. We aim to ensure that they have the very best quality of life possible and can exercise their right to live and be cared for in their own homes. We fulfil this aim by providing respite and palliative care in the community through our unique hospice at home service which includes: - Short periods of specialist respite care in the child's own home. This is flexible and organised around the child's needs and usual routines. - Nursing care including administering medication or carrying out other medical procedures such as suctioning or tube feeding. - Practical and emotional support for parents or simply a listening ear when things become too much - Play and stimulation as appropriate. Sometimes children will just want to be quiet and sleep or be read to or sung to. Well always let the child direct us on the day. - End of life care when we provide more intensive support and bereavement support for families for up to five years after a child has passed away. |
