The Charitys objects are: 1) to promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community in the area of benefit (North Somerset) and in particular the advancement of education, the protection of health and the relief of poverty sickness and distress 2) to promote and organise cooperation in the achievement of the above purposes and to that end: a) to advise and support persons willing to volunteer b) to promote volunteering and community involvement c) to promote advise and support voluntary and community organisations d) to bring together in council representatives of voluntary and community organisations and statutory authorities within North Somerset e) to cooperate and work in partnership with other organisations and statutory authorities f) to represent the interests of voluntary and community organisations Our mission is to represent, develop and empower the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in North Somerset to be at the forefront of positive social change and development. Our aims: 1. Influence Strategic Decision making in the private, public and voluntary sectors for the benefit of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector and the wider community 2. Lead volunteering and the volunteer pathway for the benefit of both the individual volunteer and for the organisation where they volunteer 3. Develop the VCSE sector and VCSE organisations to ensure it is sustainable, resilient and at the forefront of social change. 4. Make the VCSE sector commission-ready and make the commissioners VCSE-sector ready to ensure improved services within the community and for the benefit of the community. Voluntary Action North Somerset (VANS) is both the infrastructure body for the VCSE sector in North Somerset and the accredited Volunteer Centre for North Somerset. This puts us in a position of being able to be at the forefront of voice and influence for the VCSES sector and develop and broker volunteering for North Somerset. We are stronger through holding both functions as we believe that our voice is stronger and more expert because we work to develop volunteering and are aware of the needs and demands put on VCSE sector in terms of the volunteering offer. Our way of working: Identify need- deliver work that responds to need- evaluate the difference made. |
