Recipient Org: Description The aim of our organisation is to restore the overgrown arboretum at Tortworth forcommunity use. In addition to preserving a historical and unusual woodland, we alsooffer conservation, education and well-being opportunities to those who need them.We offer events, volunteer days, internships and therapeutic days to people from allwalks of life, including young people and individuals recovering from addiction or livingwith mental health issues.We currently run an internship for adults in recovery from addiction, once a week, withboth work days to manage the woodland and learning days to teach relevant skills, fromtool use to veteran tree management. We offer the space to carefully selected partners who run various activities from batconservation training, forest school, addiction recovery days and camping weekends.This provides a very small income to the organisation.Our monthly conservation days as part of the Tortworth Arboretum Restoration Project,offer volunteers the opportunity to contribute to the restoration of the woodland, learningabout woodland management, returning the arboretum to health. We recruit fromaddiction volunteer centre, Sustain, as well as local sites such as Do-It and Voscur.
