Snak Shak aims to support young people who wouldn't otherwise choose to attend organised clubs or uniformed organisations yet feel comfortable at Snak Shak. Initially operating from a caravan in local supermarket car park in 2005, then with awards for all match funding rented and renovated our permanent base: Snak Shak warehouse in selsey high street. Providing cheap food, a safe place to relax with friends, as well as offering creative projects and entertainment events. Snak Shak is led by the needs of the young people who attend and the activities designed around their preferences. Our youth worker is always on duty engaging with the young people during evening sessions. Also visits local academy during lunchtimes to engage with youngsters and draw new people in. Deals with level 1 mental needs of young people when required (and has recently attended a conference about mental health in young people). Runs after school clubs at warehouse which include: LBGT gender group, tune-in (for youth who have 'dropped out'. Separate boys and girls groups about self-harm and self-esteem. We operate solid safeguarding and signposting operation.
