The main objective of the project is to sort, preserve and catalogue the administrative archive of the MRC National Survey of Health and Development (NSHD), held at UCL, to international standards and make it available to researchers. The project will be managed by the Head of Archives, UCL Special Collections, and the project archivist will be embedded in the management structure of that department. The NSHD archive will be housed with other specialist education archives at the UCL Institute of Education. The aims of the project are: Removal, sorting and repackaging of archive material from the current storage Appraisal of remaining archive material to remove duplicates and to agree retention Repackaging of archive material into acid-free folders and boxes Cataloguing of the archive using CALM, in line with international standards (ISAD(G) and ISAAR(CPF)). The catalogue will be added to the archive online catalogue (http://archive.ioe.ac.uk/DServe) Conservation and digitisation of specified material in the archive Creation of a records management plan to streamline future retention of material Outreach and dissemination work relating to the archive collection in collaboration with staff at the MRC Unit for Lifelong and Ageing at UCL (LHA).
