Recipient Org: Description The Oxfordshire Wheel is a countywide, pan disability user led organisation, which operates within the co-operative model. The organisation supports the delivery of Self Directed Support, through the provision of information, advice and training services, regarding health, social care and benefits. The aims of the Oxfordshire Wheel are to be proactive in the development of independent living and its principals. To support and train people in the development and changes across health and social care in Oxfordshire, which will improve the lives of those who use those services. The Oxfordshire Wheel has two services - the Community Independent Support Service and the Community Learning Service. The Community Support Service currently delivers, two mornings a week, a free one-to-one expert advise service to those needing help with their benefits. This service has also been providing the administrative support to Oxfordshire County Council for the Support with Confidence Scheme, which is a scheme to support the training and development of Personal Assistants across Oxfordshire. The Community Learning Service has developed a range of accredited modules to support Self Directed Support, and these are currently being delivered with funding from the European Social Fund to both service users, and people who wish to become Personal Assistants.
