The grant will help fund our scheme coordinator. Clients and volunteers need a reliable, experienced, and empathetic person to bring them together. As well as finding a suitable volunteer for each client, our coordinator risk assesses the client's environment; recruits volunteers; ensures that all are DBS checked; makes the introductions and supports all clients and volunteers. Experience has taught us that without a competent, dedicated coordinator the scheme will not flourish. We expect to lose our free office-space when Bicester Health & Wellbeing Centre closes this year and have included costs to cover an alternative.

Recipient Org: Description Bicester Good Neighbour Scheme (BGNS) is a free service offering friendship and support to isolated people living in the town and nearby villages, priority is given to those who are over 65 and live alone. Our volunteers visit clients at home, usually once a week, for a chat, to check that they are safe, well and warm, or they may help with small practical tasks around the home or garden, do some shopping/errands, or accompany clients to appointments or social activities.
