Recipient Org: Description In summary our group is not for profit, voluntary organisation which promotes and integrates the three key pillars of our town - trade, tourism and community concerns - through an innovative digital hub (website, social media, virtual tours and handheld apps). Social inclusion and holistic, community integration are our guiding principles. From the start, we wanted to create a group which drew together all strands of the community through website, social media and regular public meetings. Not just concentrating on shops and businesses, we have used our website to showcase and profile many local community groups and enterprises including our hard working Green Gym, medal winning Chippy Trixters, Artweeks artists, Fibreworks craft makers, our independent community run theatre and lido not forgetting Chippy's own much loved Yarn bomber. We are doing our best to include all members of our community, regardless of race, class, sex, religion or other such differences. This includes its most vulnerable members - we don't want anyone left behind. ECN is doing it utmost to overcome ageism and racism through hosting two specific local charties on our website - Dementia Friends and Rafiki Thabo Foundation, both having a page devoted to them in the 'Community' section of our website. Chipping Norton's Dementia Champion Claire Sexton (an ECN member) runs training and information sessions with local businesses to increase their awareness of dementia. She shows them how their businesses can become 'dementia friendly' for elderly residents living with the condition. In January 206 she signed up Chipping Norton town councillors as Dementia Friends, a great step forward. The Midcounties Co-op has contributed greatly in this area, having organised local sessions for their staff and offered volunteers for the Lights Up group. Rafiki Thabo Foundation's spokesperson Janet Hayes (also an ECN member) runs her Kingham based charity to help disadvantaged African students complete secondary and further education. ECN has helped her sign up local eateries to the 'Rafiki Sandwich' project (providing these students with vital school lunches) and is encouraging local shops to stock merchandise made by the African parents of children with cerebral palsy.
