Development of the Volunteer Co-ordinator's Role 25 Nov 2015
Since 2009, volunteers at Sight Action have increased from zero to 50. The Volunteer Co-ordinator's role will be developd to include volunteer selection and retention; introducing community volunteers; clients' assessment needs; and introducing a quality management system. Visually impaired clients will continue to benefit from this support.
The organisation, based in south Belfast, provides promotion, development and support of volunteering across Northern Ireland. They are using the Â£9,450 grant to update the group's website to make it more accessible.
Oxford Conservation Volunteers New Tools Project 09 Dec 2015
We will buy tools to enable volunteers to enhance green spaces in Oxfordshire and provide training and skills to improve employability.
The organisation will use the funding to develop and deliver open induction sessions for volunteers across the region using online materials, virtual forums and access to face to face meetings. This will enable the group to support volunteers about to start their first placements to prevent frustration, unhappiness and reduction the number of local volunteers by preparing them for volunteering within the voluntary and community sector.
The funding will be used to purchase flood defence kits to be used by the project to provide training for volunteers in flood rescue.

This project will enable disadvantaged children and young people from a number of backgrounds to access a variety of activities and trips. They will increase their aspirations make new friends and increase their confidence.

This project will provide two residential experiences for 30 vulnerable children and young people from North Lanarkshire. It will increase confidence support inclusion and increase aspiration.

The group will use funding to promote volunteering amongst young people in the area, through publicity and sports coach qualification sessions. This will encourage beneficiaries to participate in structured, beneficial activities, with the aim of reducing boredom, anti social behaviour and crime in the area.
