Peer Support Plus 27 Jul 2016
This is the expansion of a project reducing loneliness and isolation for disabled people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North and North East Somerset, and Bath. Meetings, drop-in sessions and activities will be offered by volunteers, many of whom are disabled and have used the service. There is also a helpline to signpost people to specialist information and support. A new strand of the project will be a telephone befriending service to make the first steps towards people accessing face-to-face support.

Positive Voices 01 Jun 2016
This project will support people who are newly diagnosed with HIV or struggling with their diagnosis in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. People will receive an assessment to help recognise their strengths and achieve their goals. There will be regular one-to-one support from others with direct experiences of HIV, and signposting to other services. There will also be workshops about understanding HIV, treatment options, telling others about the diagnosis, sex and relationships.

TPP1- Celebrating Asylum Seekers and Refugees 29 Mar 2016
They will run a mentoring scheme to support asylum seekers and refugees in the local area. People will receive training to improve their listening skills and understanding of others so they can help an asylum seeker or refugee to deal with the many challenges they face in successfully integrating into the community, such as applying for jobs, learning English and finding housing. There will also be a public exhibition to raise awareness of why some people are forced to seek sanctuary.

This project will use its funding to expand the support for victims of child sexual exploitation across the Avon and Somerset area. Working with a range of partners, staff will provide individually tailored packages of support to young people combining intensive one to one support and counselling with a range of other interventions. This project targets women survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking, offering a full range of support to women at all stages of their journey from point of rescue through to independent living. The service is delivered on a two tier process starting with WATER (Women’s Emergency Anti-Trafficking Refuge), an eight-bed secure safe house where beneficiaries can access crisis management to help them deal with the trauma associated with enslavement.
