The group will use the funding to create an accessible community garden, to include a workshop, raised beds and composting toilet. This will enable them to deliver gardening sessions for the whole community, including people with mental health issues and those on probation, with the aim of reducing obesity and promoting wellbeing.

The project will renovate the former graveyard of Cheltenham chapel, which is now known as Jenner Gardens. The group will work on landscaping and planting to improve the aesthetics and safety of the site, transforming this area into a community garden, which will be open to the public.

Global Gardens 19 Mar 2008

With funding this school will create a garden which will have a global theme which will reflect the diverse population of the school. The garden will contain plants which will reflect each of the continents and this will be a reminder of the pupils who attend and who have left the school. The pupils will be involved with the designing of the garden.

Afon Taf Gardening Club in Carmarthenshire will use the grant to take their members on a two-day trip to visit the National Trust historical buildings and gardens at Stokesay Castle, Erddig and Chirk Castle to reduce social isolation. This grant for £4,900 will fund transport, accommodation and entrance fees for up to 35 people.

Treorchy Comprehensive School is in Treorchy, Wales and it teaches students aged 11-18yrs. The project will benefit 1,000 and 10 other organisations and aims to build a garden and outdoor picnic area, sensory garden with wildlife habitats, also they will have a recycling and composting area.

The project will create a garden site on disused land within a densely populated area. Local volunteers will work to create the garden, which will be developed to include planting and trees. It is anticipated that 430 local residents and 15 organisations will benefit from the project.

The Hidden Gardens Trust in Glasgow aim to hold a Wildlife Day where members of the public will be invited to partake in various activities such as planting sessions, workshops on making bird boxes, plant identification, a nature trail and a mini beast hunt for children.
