The project will provide a studio space for children and people with special needs to participate in art classes & community activities and add to the facilities and accessible services available in Moray. The Arts Centre will be a long-lasting educational and community space which will encourage paticipation, opportunities for social inclusion, opportunities for artists to exhibit their work, & promote arts & culture.
Moray Arts Centre 23 Jun 2006
A new Centre of Excellence for the Visual Arts for Moray, the Eastern Highland area and Western Aberdeenshire will be established in Forres during the winter of 2006. A key part of the centre will be a purpose built dedicated studio and exhibition space for inspiring creativity in young people of all abilities.
Alice-in-Wonderland Garden (STV North) 25 Nov 2008
Moray Art Centre's, Alice in Wonderland garden project will create a community-driven resource garden for the whole public. Sited around the Moray Art Centre the garden will include several themed areas to for play, arts and crafts activities and horticultural activites. The one year grant will fund the design and construction of the garden including the costs of plants, trees, building materials, tutors sessional fees, landscaping, arts equipment and crafts equipment.
Creative Industry Courses 27 Mar 2009
This project aims to develop a new programme of professional training for the creative industries aimed at young people who are or who are at risk of becoming involved in drugs, alcohol or crime in Moray. The grant will fund professional fees for a community consultation, market research, business planning, a feasibility study, research, needs analysis and administration.
Greener Moray! 28 Mar 2011
The centre will offer a series of creative art based workshops for disadvantaged people. The centre will provide them with the opportunity to explore, understand and appreciate their environment. Participants will develop skills that will address and help alleviate climate change. This grant will fund cooking equipment, allotment hire, materials, co-ordinator fees, tutor fees, youth worker fees, publicity, tutor/volunteer training, volunteers expenses and room hire.
Olympic Impulse: A Very British Passion 21 Jul 2011
The group will celebrate the connection between art and sport through an exhibition of major works of Greek art and artefacts from the the British Museum that depict the feats of athletes from the original Olympics and the British works of art that reflect a 300 history from the legacy of classical Greece. The aim of the project is to motivate young people in Moray who have experienced the impact of loss of population, employment and the threat of cutbacks to the sports and culture services.
