'bfriends' East Lothian 16 Apr 2008

This project will raise the self esteem, confidence and life skills of vulnerable isolated young people whose support structures have been eroded through changing family structures. This project will provide a befriending service to young people aged 5 to 16 years of age. The project will run for 5 years and will reach 70 young people, 70 families and offer volunteer opportunities to 70 adults. The project will fund the salaries, training, equipment, administration and volunteer costs.

Western Isles Project 31 Jan 2008

This three year project will build on the success of a recent pilot project to increase the ability of young people to be involved in local decision making processes. It will develop the existing Children's Parliament in the Western Isles to the Southern Isles. 500 young people aged 11 - 16 will benefit from a range of arts-based activities and sessions. In particular, 20 young people who were involved in the pilot project will act as project advisors and peer educators. The grant will fund salary costs.

The project will introduce the CEDAR groupwork approach, through a partnership approach with local statutory agencies including health, education, social work and the police. CEDAR is a 12-week therapeutic groupwork programme for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
