Banishing the Blues; weekend clubs for older people in Hampshire and D 23 Apr 2015

Senior Safe & Social 23 Mar 2016

Following an 18 month successful pilot, the project will be rolled out to ten further locations to reduce loneliness and social isolation for older people living in and around Harlow. Through social hubs, a range of activities will be offered including lunch clubs neighbourhood support, friendship groups, days out, tea and chat groups. In addition twice per year additional events will focus on safety information and advice on how to remain independent within the home environment.

This project will use the funding to set up a community café which will be a focal point for the community to come together to access nutritious food, gain work experience and opportunities to volunteer. The café will also provide a space for meetings and training. This will provide a community facility to bring the community together to access social activities and to help to reduce isolation.
