The project will work in the Mendip District Council area of Somerset to provide advice, information and support to elderly and vulnerable residents. It will identify those in fuel poverty and/or housing where damp and cold,poor insulation, heating or maintenance is impacting on their health, wealth, quality of life and energy efficiency.It will support those people through applications for benefits to which they are entitled and also the Warm Front grant scheme for heating and insulation improvements.
Warming Bristol Communities 09 Sep 2009
This expansion of an existing project will aim to improve the lives of culturally diverse communities in Bristol, living in cold, damp homes and struggling to pay fuel bills or at risk of falling into arrears. The project will focus particularly on the city's estimated 16,000 Somali population, and also train existing service providers to support this community. Many of the intended beneficiaries experience language problems, isolation, poor physical and mental health, and a poor socio-economic profile.

This project will tackle poverty amongst older people in rural Sedgemoor and West Somerset by providing information and advice about energy efficiency and home improvement grants and by increasing take-up of means tested benefits and grants. It will also provide training to professionals working with older people to help them identify and tackle problems related to cold and inadequate housing.
This charity in Southville, Bristol will use funding to create new materials and resources that will enable them to demonstrate how to heat homes in a more efficient way. This will build capacity for the group and improve the way in which it communicates with its beneficiaries.

The project will help thousands of older people living in fuel poverty. It will encourage people to make behavioural changes that will reduce their energy use and fuel debt, improve their access to benefit entitlements and energy efficient grant schemes and improve their understanding of energy use in the home. Local older people will be trained to deliver advice surgeries and outreach events. More in-depth advice will be carried out in the form of telephone contact and home visits

This is a project by Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) which aims to give people living in rural Somerset (who are in debt or on low incomes) a better quality of life as a result of improved access to good quality energy advice and affordable access to a range of energy efficiency measures.It will also recruit and train volunteers from local community groups to undertake the home energy advice visits alongside caseworkers.
