The Green Machine Project 23 Nov 2005

Step Outside 22 Oct 2013

This is a continuation of an existing project by The Conservation Volunteers (TVC) based in Leeds which aims to improve the life prospects and wellbeing of people who face multiple disadvantages, through the provision of social, learning and volunteering opportunities based in the natural environment. The project will help 18,050 people in Leeds; 15,000 children and young people, 3000 disadvantaged adults and 50 project volunteers.

BTCV Hollybush Day Project Volunteer Inclusion and Support Programme 08 Dec 2010

This project in Leeds gives disadvantaged unemployed individuals the opportunity to gain confidence, self-esteem, friendships and skills through engagement as volunteers in practical environmental activities. The project includes newly developed induction programmes and support the volunteers. The existing centre will be refurbished to provide larger safer kitchen facilities and a woodwork room. Additional activities include publicity, administration, preparing refreshments and social events.

Youth ACE (Action for the Community through Environment) Volunteering 13 Dec 2006

The proposed project is to engage and encourage groups of young people aged 13-18 years to develop their own environmental projects. The young people will identify projects within their local communities and will be guided through the process of planning, developing and implementing their projects by BTCV and youth group staff.

With Lottery funding the British Trust of Conservation Volunteers will run local group conferences in Oxford, High Wycombe and Reading. Each event will be attended by representatives from local community groups from each respective county. The conferences will give the reps the opportunity to share information and experiences, solve common problems and establish a way forward for community conservation.

Greening the Glen Road 06 Oct 2006

The project will work with the local community in making environmental and landscape improvements to a 1. 5 mile stretch of the Glen Road (from Kennedy Way to near Suffolk Road) in Belfast. The land is owned by the DOE, Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, and the Belfast Education and Library Board. Written permission to work on this land will be requested from these organisations.

Community Connections 21 May 2007

The three-year project will focus on the integration between difference sectors of the community, particularly between young and older members, and to increase the involvement of those experiencing social isolation in community activities. This will be done through supporting and training local communities to be able to identify and develop local community environments in the areas of Ynys Mon, Gwynedd and Conwy, both environmentally and socially.
