Northern Remembrance Concert 24 May 2004
The organisation, in general, safeguards the welfare, interests and memory of those who served in the armed forces. With the funding it will arrange for the Royal Marine band to visit and perform at the first Northern Remembrance Concert in Manchester that the British Legion will host. The event will enhance community spirit whilst at the same time create a platform for inter-generational relationship development. It will also develop comradeship and audience participation.
Veterans Awareness Day at the Races 30 Dec 2004
This independent branch of the charity will use an award to commemorate the end of the Second World War by holding a "Veterans Awareness Day" at the Races in Lingfield Park during the National Veterans Awareness Week in July 2005. The Races will be named after Veterans and a parade of standards accompanied by a Royal British Legion band will take place before the main race. This event will also comprise stalls and exhibitions of WWII memorabilia and the presentation of Veteran badges.

The South West Hampton Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to allow them to carry out a 60th anniversary celebration meal and film afternoon for their members.

The Horbury, Sitlington and Ossett branch of the Royal British Legion will use its grant to commemorate the 60th anniversary of WW2 by hosting a number of events including, a 1940's Tea Dance, a 'Party in the Park' and an afternoon tea at a local School. The events will be open to the local community.

The Leeds District of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a VE and VJ Day 60th anniversary concert which will involve Her Magesty's Royal Marines band.

Hailsham and District Royal British Legion branch will use an award to celebrate the 60th anniversary of V.E. and V.J. day by hosting a 'fun' day. This will include displays of artefacts and photographs, demonstrations from the Army and RAF Cadets, and local schools and youth groups will be invited to attend the event.

The East Riding of Yokshire branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to stage a 'Tattoo' event that will commemorate the 60th anniversary of VJ Day. The event will include a range of activities ranging from bands, displays including the Battle of Britain Flight, the culmination of the event will be a massed parade. The event will include both veterans and youth organisations.

The Sandy & District Branch of the Royal British Legion are seeking a grant to assist in paying for a Service of Thanksgiving to mark the 6oth Anniversary of the end of WW2, including the laying up of three dedicated standards in front of a large cross-generational congregation. This would be followed by a buffet and Anniversary cake for all of those involved. The contribution would also help to fund a video record of the event and a large number of souvenir orders of service.

The Little Sutton Branch of the Royal British Legion will use an award to a special commemoration event entitled 'Reflections of the Second World War'. This will include guest speakers, a 1940's themed 3 course meal, and an evening of entertainment.

The Craven Arms Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to have a luncheon to celebrate the end of the Second World War. The luncheon is open to all veterans who took part in the war and will be attended by local Army Cadets, Cubs and Scouts.

The Royal British Legion Gwent County Committee have been awarded a grant to hold a Drumhead Service of Thanksgiving to mark the 60th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities of World War Two. The event will be attended by many ex-services and veterans groups and will cover five county authorities in Wales.
