Piano renovation 14 Jul 2005
The planned restoration of a Steinway grand piano will provide local community groups and schools with the opportunity to run music workshops and to hold recitals at the arts centre. The piano requires significant work to bring it back into regular use.
Colchester Arts Centre will hold a three-week mixed arts festival aimed at children in hard-to-reach areas. Activities will include puppet making and movement workshops, culminating in a performance at the end of the festival.

A project to enable this theatre company in Dudley to work with a professional director to produce a theatrical performance for the benefit of members and the local community. The grant will pay for director's fees, director's expenses, set, costume and rehearsal space.
This group from Jedburgh run a community and arts centre, providing cultural, educational and recreational opportunities for local people. The grant will allow the group to create a cross-media performing space and art gallery, encouraging more arts group to use the centre and more audiences to appreciate local art. The grant will be used to install light projectors and halogen picture lights, install a picture hanging system and a consumer unit for electrics.
Exposures Careers Development Project 17 Feb 2005
Greater Manchester Arts Centre is also known as Cornerhouse, which is Manchester's centre for contemporary visual arts and cinema. It has identified a need for career development information for young people wishing to work in TV and film-making. This project will meet that need, providing a series of careers training days in six different venues, followed by two expert masterclasses at the 'exposures' student film festival, for which transport will be provided.
Community garden and hand decorated wall 22 Jul 2005
Queens Park Arts Centre aims to get the local community involved in the arts through workshops and exhibitions. The group will create an outdoor garden that will be designed to encourage wildlife to the area and provide space for youngsters to learn about the environment and outdoor arts. Users of the centre will be able to take part in workshops to decorate individual bricks for a decorative wall and help design and create a large floor mosaic.
The 'Kids Kollections', is a new arts collection/exhibition created by young people, will use the grant to explore the collections of two local community museums (Museum of Free Derry and Siege Museum and Exhibition) creating large scale drawings, creative writing and digital photography. The project will involve members in museum visits, site research and workshops in art and creative writing culminating in a public exhibition in the Verbal Arts Centre as part of the UK City of Culture celebrations.
Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre in Cwmbran will run a programme of workshops for people with dementia and their befrienders which will enable them to engage in practical craft activities which will relieve stress and re-kindle creative skills. The project meets the Awards for All aim of 'increasing skills and creativity'. This grant for £4,970 will fund freelance tutor and support workers fees and art and craft materials.
Sonic Postcards 16 Mar 2006
The project is to hold a series of educational workshops with two schools. Experienced sonic artists and composers will lead the classes and the finished works will be sound files representing the young people and the place where recorded. A visual element will be presented at Cornerhouse and on its website, enabling schools around the country to access the finishre pieces.
