Active Travel Consortium 21 Jun 2007
The aim of this national portfolio is to encourage individuals to introduce walking and cycling into their everyday lives, improving physical and mental well-being. The portfolio will undertake 50 funding level projects, feeding over 1,000 smaller projects and will focus on the school journey, the journey to work, getting people started and local journeys. Over two million people are expected to benefit during the four-year portfolio.
The project will recruit and train dedicated Network Champions together with Wildlife Champions to monitor, protect and enhance biodiversity along the Network's Greenways (traffic free routes) in Wales, and also engage with children and young people to act as Youth Champions to take part in activities such as surveying wildlife, making bug boxes and litter picking. The project would also encourage Champions to organise local events in an attempt to involve the wider community.

Connect 2 (people. . . places. . . . pride)1. People's quality of life relies on the quality of their relationships and connectivity to each other. 2. Connect2 will reconnect communities across physical barriers that sever them from the people and places they want and need to go on foot or by bike.
Active Travel Portfolio 23 Nov 2006
The project has passed to stage two of the Well-being programme and has been given a development grant to assist in the progress of their application. Development funding will not guarantee the project a final award. The £165 million Well-being scheme aims to improve mental wellbeing, make people more physically active, and encourage children, parents and the wider community to eat more healthily.
Connect2 (..people..places..pride) 12 Dec 2007
Connect2 will transform the lives of people living in 79 communities around the UK by reconnecting them across physical barriers - such as roads, rivers or railway lines - that sever them from the places that they want and need to go to. It will produce inspiring physical solutions - bridges, a tunnel, a traffic free path alongside a busy road or road crossing, supported by landscaping and linking paths - creating attractive and welcoming environments for walking and cycling.
Great British Bike Ride 05 Apr 2013
