The 40's evening & Veteran's Lunch 02 Jul 2004

This registered charity would use an award to organise two complementary events. The first one is a 1940's night (in the Dymchurch RBL club) for all ages, including children, where the club will be decorated (& blacked out) in 1940's style. There will also be entertainment appropriate to the era. The other event is a formal lunch for WW2 veterans and their partners. This would be open to all veterans, whether or not RBL members.

Commemorative Drama Production 25 Aug 2004

A project to commemorate the events leading up to the end of WW2 with the provision of a "Day of Nostalgia" for the benefit of members of this group and the wider community.

Parade and Concert 25 May 2005

The Royal British Legion Mansfield Branch have been awarded a grant for transport costs that will allow them to attend two parades. In addition they will also attend a concert at the Theatre Royal for a Wartime concert.

Mildenhall VE Day Carnival 26 May 2005

The Mildenhall Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant that will allow them to hold a 1940's style party in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2.

60th Anniversary Commemorative Events 26 May 2005

Thame & District Branch of The Royal British Legion will use a grant to organise a series of events in conjunction with a number of local organisations to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2. A parade will be followed by music from the era and a number of exhibitions that reflects upon the regions role during the War.

Visit to the Memorial Arboretum and VE/VJ Party 27 May 2005

This branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a VE/VJ party and to visit the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Wartime Dinner & Entertainment 27 May 2005

The Seaham branch of the Royal British Legion will use an award to hold a commemoration dinner to remember the contribution made 60 years ago during WW2 by the town. The group will be inviting various members of the community to attend the event.

Reunion Party 27 May 2005

The Poynton Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to hold a reunion and street party to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Local veteran groups, schools and community groups will come together for a weekend of celebration and an exhibition will detail life during the war.

The Port Sunlight branch of the Royal British Legion will use an award to hold two reunion events that will allow the group to commemorate the 60th anniversary of WW2.

Airbase Activities 27 May 2005

The Penketh and Sankey Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to hold a street party to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Burtonwood Heritage Museum will contribute exhibits to the event and an evening dance with have a themed 1940's troupe.

V.J. Day Celebration Event 17 Jun 2005

The Paddock Wood and District Branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a service to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The day will begin with a parade of ex-service organisations with the day culminating in a reception for all those involved.

The Norfolk County Branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a service to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two. A military parade will include members of the Armed Forces, ex-Service organisations with their standards as well as youth organisations. A reception will be held after the parade for all involved.

The Bedfordshire County Branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a celebration to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. A church service and parade will involve veteran and ex-service groups as well as cadet organisations. An exhibition of wartime life, educational material, and museum artefacts will also be on display.

The Bingley Branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold an event to commemorate the 60th anniversaries of VE and VJ Day. The event will take the form of a parade and remembrance service. An exhibition will follow with entertainment from the era.

VJ Day Commemorations 24 Jun 2005

The Royal British Legion (Chislehurst Branch) from Kent will use an award to fund travel expenses for its members to spend a day visiting war museums, for example the Imperial War Museum. Further funds have been awarded for the group to hold one party for WW2 veterans at which there will also be a reunion for members of the Land Army, Bevin Boys and evacuees from the region.

The Hythe and Saltwood Branch of the Royal British Legion will use an award to commemorate the 60th anniversary of WW2 by holding a parade and service followed by a buffet lunch.

An award has been made to the Royal British Legion Newbridge Branch to allow them to host a number of activities in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of WW2. Activities will include a 1940's dance, a victory parade followed by a party and a torchlight procession.

The West Wickham branch of The Royal British Legion will use their grant to commemorate both VE and VJ Days by holding a concert, parade and Drum Head Service. The group will also be visiting schools to talk to school children about WW2.

The Royal British Legion Cheshire Cathedral Service 25 Mar 2005

The Royal British Legion Cheshire have been awarded a grant that will enable them to organise a special Cathedral Service in Chester in commemoration of the ending of World War two. This will be followed by a parade through the city and where a number of events/displays will take place. The event is open to the whole community and will be attended by WW2 veterans and local schools.

Celebration and musical festival 14 Apr 2005

The South West Hampton Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to allow them to carry out a 60th anniversary celebration meal and film afternoon for their members.
