The group is a community and voluntary based organisation providing a range of services and activities to the local community. They received a grant of £10,000 to make improvements to their venue so that it can be used for more classes and activities.

Parade and church service to commemorate 60 years of D-Day. 29 Jul 2004

This branch of the registered charity would use an award to organise a reunion consisting of a parade and a church service to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-Day landings. Many of their members in Kent will not be able to attend National events either abroad or in this country because of their age and state of heath. Ashford is easily reached by road or rail. Organisations and youth groups like St Johns Ambulance, Army cadets, Navy cadets and scout groups would also attend.

Parade and Service to mark 60th Anniversary of the End of World War 17 Jun 2005

The Norfolk County Branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a service to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two. A military parade will include members of the Armed Forces, ex-Service organisations with their standards as well as youth organisations. A reception will be held after the parade for all involved.

VE Celebration 17 Jun 2005

This group will use their award to hold a VE celebration party which will supply refreshments and entertainment to many guests from around the country. The premises will be decorated with bunting for the occasion.

The Ipswich Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to hold a commemorative event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two. A service and parade will be held which will be followed by a reception with a wartime film and memorabilia exhibition on display.

The Bedford Branch of the Royal British Legion will be staging two events to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the ending of World War Two. A church service will be held which will be followed be a reception for all veterans. The second event will be a parade, followed by a wartime memorabilia exhibition and display. Reunion corners will be set up so that Old Comrades can meet again. Entertainment with a 1940's style will also be provided.

The Baschurch and District Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to hold a church service and parade to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. A Brass Band concert and reception will also be held.

The Christchurch Branch of the Royal British Legion has been awarded a grant to carry out a parade followed by a VJ day party in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2.

Service 25 May 2005

The Royal British Legion Gwent County Committee have been awarded a grant to hold a Drumhead Service of Thanksgiving to mark the 60th anniversary of the cessation of hostilities of World War Two. The event will be attended by many ex-services and veterans groups and will cover five county authorities in Wales.

VE/VJ Commemorative Events 26 May 2005

Goudhurst Branch of The Royal British Legion will use a grant to organise a series of events in conjunction with the local ex-servicemen's club to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2. This will involve recording the memories of those that lived through the War in various capacities. This will form the central focus for a day of events designed to bring the community together along with a group of Chelsea Pensioners for a widespread celebration of 60 years of peace.

The Handforth Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to hold a commemorate event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two. A reception will be held afterwards with local cadet forces, girl guides, scouts and other community groups expected to come together to celebrate.

Reunion Party 27 May 2005

The Poynton Branch of the Royal British Legion have been awarded a grant to hold a reunion and street party to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Local veteran groups, schools and community groups will come together for a weekend of celebration and an exhibition will detail life during the war.

VE and VJ day commemoration event 24 Jun 2005

The Pulborough & District branch of the Royal British Legion will use a grant to organise a Remembrance Service aimed at commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2. There will be numerous veterans involved from other local branches so that the event is also partially a reunion of former comrades. The Service will involve a broad cross-generational group and seeks to mark those who lost their lives during the War and will be followed by a lunch with period entertainment.

The Higher Bebington Branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a themed armistice celebration to bring together veterans of the Second World War and civilians who participated in the Home Front. The group will also hold a VE style street party for children.

The Chingford Branch of The Royal British Legion will use a grant to organise a social evening for its members to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of VE/VJ Day. This will involve branch members, a large number of veterans and various other members of the local community. The evening will consist of an evening meal with period music. This is to be complemented by a large-scale service of remembrance to be carried out in conjunction with other local groups and youth organisations.

The Ladybarn and district branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The celebration will involve entertainment from local group who will play music from the period.

Royal British legion Ludlow branch has been awarded a grant to enable them to carry out a range of activities as part of their commemoration and celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2. The project will encompass three Parades and an Entertainment day for the community which will include a band, funfair, military vehicle display and will also hold an exhibition of then and now a story of the community and the changes the area has seen.
