The aim is to support children and young people aged four to 16 who have experienced domestic violence in the past and are living away from the abusing parent. They will have been the victim of or witnessed the abuse of a parent or carer.

This project aims to improve the life chances of the poorest families living in deprivation in Newcastle upon Tyne. The service will be open to all residents but have a specific focus on supporting BME families living in poverty.
Kumasi is from the Ashanti language meaning 'the meeting place under the tree' - a focus for a community. This three-year project will provide opportunities for young unaccompanied asylum seekers in Newcastle to meet for group work and social activity addressing their specific needs. Located in central Newcastle, Kumasi will provide a supportive environment addressing key issues identified by these young people including mental health, sexual health, education and the prospect of return.

This project aims to improve communication between young people and their families in order to prevent family breakdown and reduce rural isolation. It will provide individual packages of home-based support, delivered by trained volunteers to support young people and families. Young people will be involved in the project design, development and management and engaged in youth forums, interviewing and training of volunteers and discussions and debates on issues affecting rural young people.

This portfolio will engage more with expectant parents during pregnancy by recruiting more midwives especially to advise women and those experiencing domestic violence. It will set up an online resource to prepare fathers for parenthood and train nursery nurses to work alongside health visitors to support parents with new babies. It will invest in a portfolio of evidence based parent programmes during pregnancy to address domestic violence and abuse, obesity, nutrition, smoking and alcohol consumption.
