This new project, based in Birmingham, is split into two parts which will be managed by a new volunteer co-ordinator. One aspect will focus on service users accessing a volunteering programme to increase employability while the other aspect will ensure effective systems are in place to manage the volunteers who support the delivery of services.
Volunteer Organiser and Trainer 23 May 2008
This is a reapplication as a result of the merger between SIFA and Fireside in December 2007. There is no change to the original aims and outcomes and the project will be delivered as per the original agreement. The project is to provide a volunteer and member helper co-ordinator to co-ordinate the 120 volunteers that work in the drop in and assist with the resettlement project. The project will provide a well organised scheme that offers training, support and exit strategies for volunteers.
Volunteer Reading Help in the Midlands 03 Jan 2013
This is a project by a charity in Digbeth, Birmingham. The group will use the funding to purchase a range of new books and games to support their volunteer reading helpers, who provide one to one support sessions to young people having difficulties reading. This will help improve childrens literacy skills and educational attainment.

This community organisation in Birmingham will use funding to run a volunteering programme for local, unemployed people. This will give free office skills training to the participants and enrol new volunteers to the Information Hub. This in turn will help build the capacity of the organisation to help the local community.
This project will provide specialist training for volunteers working with people who have suffered bereavement. This will increase the skills, confidence and capacity of the group and its volunteers.
Bournville TimeBank 10 Jan 2007
A 'TimeBank' will encourage community volunteering in the Bournville, Northfield, Shenley and Selly Oak areas of Birmingham. Volunteer work will be recorded and exchanged for rewards such as training and work placements under the scheme which will improve intergenerational relationships and reduce isolation. Young people will be encouraged to take a more positive role within the community and elderly and disabled people will be urged to volunteer.

A project by this children's mentoring support network in Birmingham, to recruit 10 older volunteers as mentors to local disaffected children.
The project will benefit existing members, volunteer helpers and group leaders and will celebrate the success of the community in running the community centre for the first year by holding an open day and community information fair. This will include displays and demonstrations by existing groups as well as workshops and the use of questionnaires to identify new activities and the volunteers to deliver them. There will also be a celebration event to acknowledge the work of the organisations volunteers.
This continuation project will support communities with high unemployment in the West Midlands to develop skills and improve their chances of securing future work. The project will provide a community volunteer scheme. Following induction training in health and safety, equalities, fire safety and basic first aid, volunteers will support fire fighters and support staff with home safety checks and training exercises. The volunteers will help to build up a trust of authority with the wider migrant community.
