A project to provide Walsall based school children and their parents with the opportunity to take part in a design and technology active learning project. The grant will pay for equipment, teachers and peer tutors.
Inclusive Anti-Bullying Programmes 06 May 2005
Currently disabled and refugee children and young people do not regularly access the Anti-Bullying Team's programme and are not fully represented by its Young People's Steering Group. To address this, the project will extend The Society's anti-bullying programme to include special schools and schools with a high number of refugee children and young people.
This project will address tensions between older and younger people in Greenwich, a need that was highlighted by research and consultation undertaken by the organisation. They will run workshops and other events, using the information gathered to develop an inter-generational conflict resolution programme. Those involved in the project will gain IT, communication and teamwork skills, helping them to gain confidence and self esteem.
Access to Sports 10 Aug 2005
A project to organise an inclusive playscheme for disabled children, their siblings and friends in Birmingham, extending access to new sports experiences and activities. The grant will pay for school hire/care taking, consumables, staff costs, resources, sports professionals, access fees and travel costs.
The project aims to improve the delivery of, and access to, child friendly services for young refugees living in Nottingham. The project will also work with wider community members, and raise awareness around why young refugees flee their homes and help young refugees to tell their stories. This project aims to help young refugees who have already suffered upheaval in their home country to cope with bullying, marginalisation, isolation and uncertainty when they arrive in this country.

The project will provide a means for young people aged 13-19 to undertake projects benefiting young people in their community. The scheme will be targeted at areas of greatest deprivation in Thanet and promoted to young people experiencing particular disadvantage, including ex-offenders and those at risk of offending.

Street Level 13 Oct 2006
NCH Street Level will raise the self- confidence and social skills of young people who have experienced homelessness. The project will work with 50 young people per year, providing them with leisure cards which will give them access to all of Dundee City Council's Leisure facilities. The grant will pay for 50 leisure passes each year and will also fund the provision of outdoor activities to 24 young people each year.
Play Pods for Primary Schools 02 Feb 2007
This project provides a container or 'Pod' full of diverse materials that can stimulate, facilitate and enhance children's play in the school playground. These loose parts will be chosen and stocked by the children themselves from a list of renewable resources. The project will be carried out in Bristol, Bath, North East Somerset and South Gloucester.
Restoring immigration legal aid for children 05 Mar 2014
This grant will fund The Children's Society (TCS) for 12 months to document the need for vulnerable children to have access to free legal representation on immigration matters. The research will be used as a 'witness statement' in a forthcoming legal challenge aiming to restore immigration legal aid to children. It will also be published as a research briefing to promote understanding of the experiences of children trying to access their entitlements without legal help.
