With a grant it will set up breakfast clubs in 6 primary schools in the area. These will be based in the most deprived areas. Bridging The Gap 06 Aug 2007

TThe Bridging the Gap project, run by Childrens Playlink, will provide an Inclusive Play Support Worker to support parents and young people aged between 5 and 16 to remove barriers to play that can sometimes exist for children with disabilities. The project will work with play schemes in the area to ensure children with disabilities have an equal number of play opportunities and disabled and non-disabled children playing together becomes standard practice.

This project will reduce the isolation of young people with disabilities, aged 14 to 24, and their families in Middlesbrough and Stockton. The project will provide supported links between disabled young people, their families and trained volunteers. With the support of a volunteer, each disabled young person will plan an individual programme of activities developed around their individual needs. This will improve their self-esteem and confidence and develop their skills to live more independently.

Supporting Children with disabilities and their families, Batticaloa, Sri L 16 Apr 2008

This three year project in the Batticaloa District of Sri Lanka will support children with physical and mental disabilities and their families. No localised facilities for children with disabilities exist since the area was ravaged by the Tsunami in December 2004. This project will set up five satellite centres offering similar services in Odamavadi, Vakarai, Palchenai, Panichankemy and Puliankandadi which are all to the north of Batticaloa where there are currently no facilities.
