Chill Out Zone (COZ) 08 Jun 2007

The Chill Out Zone in Bathgate. 300 young people aged 12 - 20 will benefit from extended opening hours on Friday evenings and weekends. The project will also help young people to access volunteering opportunities. Young people who are socially excluded such as 'looked after' and accommodated young people, teenage mothers and LGBT young people. The grant will meet the salary costs of two new full time project workers.

This project provides support and advice to young people moving from care, supervision or troubled home lives in the Moray area in their transition to independence. The project will provide advocacy, mentoring, advice, guidance and emotional support to 275 young people over four years helping them to develop and implement personal plans to achieve their own goals for independent living, focusing on employment, training and accommodation.This four year grant will fully fund staff salaries.

Support Plus Project 12 Dec 2007

This project will reduce the isolation of young people with disabilities, aged 14 to 24, and their families in Middlesbrough and Stockton. With the support of a volunteer, each disabled young person will plan an individual programme of activities developed around their individual needs. This will improve their self-esteem and confidence and develop their skills to live more independently.

This project will raise the self esteem, confidence and life skills of vulnerable isolated young people whose support structures have been eroded through changing family structures. This is a project to help children aged 0-16 years old and their parents, who are in prison, to learn together through creative play activities for two to three hour family visit sessions. The play activities will be designed and led by the prisoners and their children with assistance from prison staff that will be trained through the project.
