Recipient Org: Description Prospero was set up in May 2015 as a Community Interest Company (CIC) with the aim of "using the arts as a developmental tool to enable young people with special needs and adults with disabilities to gain life skills and to experience arts and culture in a way that is vital and creative". The organisation developed out of programmes which were previously offered by The Arc Caterham, a charity in Caterham working with young people and with people with disabilities. The Arc is funded by the Caterham Barracks Community Trust. In early 2015, the funds available to the Trust had declined significantly and they were unable continue funding arts activities. The founder of Prospero was previously Artistic Director at the Arc. Prospero works in partnership with The Arc to run the Friday Club drama programme. Prospero also runs an inclusive community acting group and offers schools workshops and other programmes. The CIC consists of one full time staff member, 5 part-time workers and a management committee of 6 people.
