Recipient Org: Description Fixers was established in 2008 by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) with the aim of giving as many young people aged 16 to 25 across the UK as possible the platform to have their voice heard on the issues that matter to them the most. PSBT aims to embed public service content across all publishing channels and platforms. Fixers is the public facing name for the work with young people around social action. Fixers do not have an application or selection process which means that the service is accessible to any young person who wants it. Uniquely, how each Fixer (young person) tackles their campaign is up to them, there is just one proviso – their Fix must benefit at least one other person. To date over 17,000 young people have become Fixers exploring issues as diverse as domestic abuse, cyber-bullying and healthy living. As a result of their campaigns young people are empowered and gain new vital new life skills enabling them to broaden their horizons and take on new challenges and employment. With Fixers young people can choose to make a film, website, poster campaign or hold an event and with support from the charity’s team of creative professionals are encouraged to make lasting change. Fixers employ 65 full time and 10 part staff. They are governed by a management committee of 7. Young Peoples Coordiators are based regionally. THe local coordinator covers Hampshire and Surrey.
